Non-accessible content
We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible.
This may not be an exhaustive list of all the issues this site may have - however the West Yorkshire Casualty Prevention Partnership and the West Yorkshire Police Digital Development Team aim to address the priority issues as soon as possible and address other issues identified as resources allow.
These include:
- Colour contrast is regarded as "Satisfactory" (Background and foreground colors do not have a sufficient contrast ratio).

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Embedded YouTube videos - Issue identified April 2026
As part of a regular accessibility audit two issues have been identified that apply to any embedded YouTube videos on the site (such as on this page).
They are as follows : Elements must use only permitted ARIA attributes and Buttons must have discernible text . These fail the WCAG 2.2 (A) 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value) success criteria.
These have been raised with our website support providers, however they have been found to be issues that YouTube needs to address, and we are unable to fix the issues ourselves. We will monitor this - and hope YouTube will address this soon.
Disproportionate burden
There are currently no issues which fall under the disproportionate burden criteria.
Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
There is currently no content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
The West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership relies on support offered by the Digital Development Team at West Yorkshire Police. The West Yorkshire Police Digital Development Team is responsible for managing the West Yorkshire Police website and Content Management System - alongside supporting the Force's website's content authors, along with other duties.
The auditing of the pages of this site is a continual ongoing process by the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership in conjunction with the support of the West Yorkshire Police Digital Development Team, and issues identified by both the automated tests, listed above, alongside the manual content checks, will be addressed as resources / funding allows.
West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership is keen for the site to be as accessible as possible, however, resources for the development of the site, and any paid-for fixes that may be required by external suppliers, may be limited / delayed due to restricted funding for website development work.
Any changes / fixes that can be done manually, without the need for external suppliers, or funding, will be done so as staffing and resources allow, allowing for any prior operational policing commitments.
Issues resolved
This section documents when we have been able to resolve known issues with the website :
December 2020
Missing 'form control labels' on the following text entry boxes / form fields
- The homepage 'Get started' search field
- The site-wide top menu drop-down search tool
The above issues were resolved and a system update released on Wednesday 23rd December 2020. We re-tested the sections of the site, listed above, with the Wave Accessibility tool, and the form search field errors previously identified are no longer flagged.
April 2026
External links icons
An issue was identified as part of a regular accessibility audit where small external link icons, similar to this: were being displayed as images, and as such did not have a corresponding ALT tag. This failed the WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content success criteria. Elements containing role="img" must have an alternative text. This issue was fixed as part of a site update in April 2026 and these icons are now ignored by screen readers using the aria-hidden="true" attribute.
